Hola, soy Loyd, el dueño de Casa Surf Sunrise. Hace veinticinco años, salí de Hawái, donde nací, y navegué en velero por todo el Pacífico, desde Japón hasta Filipinas. Navegué solo, principalmente guiado por las estrellas, ya que el GPS no era popular en ese entonces. Surfeé cada ola que pude encontrar. Luego navegué hasta México. Durante años navegué de arriba a abajo por la costa del Pacífico, comprando y vendiendo barcos y buscando la ola perfecta y una percha para construir una casa. Pasé por el canal de Panamá por la costa caribeña de América Central hasta Miami. Finalmente, navegué de regreso a Oaxaca y anclé frente a Playa El Mojón. Era 1999 y no había nada en la playa. Nadie. Las olas eran perfectas. Ese día vi a un tipo en la orilla recogiendo cocos. Nadé y hablé con él. Su nombre era Abel. Era dueño de todo. Hace mucho que murió. Pero me vendió el terreno. En 2008, construí la casa para poder despertar y ver la ola desde la palapa. Ha sido una buena casa, segura y hermosa, y ahora es el momento de venderla.
Hey I’m Loyd, the owner of Casa Surf Sunrise. Twenty-five years ago I sailed out of Hawaii, where I was born, and sailed all over the Pacific, from Japan to the Philippines. I sailed solo, mostly by stars, as GPS was not popular back then. I surfed every break I could find. Then I sailed over to Mexico. For years I sailed up and down the Pacific coast, buying and selling boats, and hunting for the perfect break and a perch to build a house. I went through the Panama canal up the Caribbean coast of Central America to Miami. Finally I sailed back back to Oaxaca and anchored off Playa El Mojon. It was 1999, and there was nothing on the beach. No one. The waves were perfect. That day I saw one guy on the shore getting coconuts. I swam in and talked to him. His name was Abel. He owned everything. He’s long dead. But he sold me the land. In 2008, I built the house so that I could wake up and see the break from the palapa. It’s been a good home, safe and beautiful, and now it’s time to sell it.
